Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro and J7 Max smartphones are coming to Sri Lanka

Samsung’s midrange Galaxy J series are so famous among our Sri Lankan youth because of the affordability and the availability. Back in 2015 Samsung has launched the first Galaxy J5 and J7 devices with 5inch and 5.5inch screen sizes respectively. Afterwards the successors of the J5 and J7 devices were released as J5 (2016), J7 (2016), J5 (2017) and J7 (2017). But due to the competition from the other vendors like Xiaomi, Meizu and Oppo Samsung has recently decided to include Prime and Pro versions in-between these sub brands, for e.g. Galaxy J2 has a Pro version, J5 and J7 have Prime versions. Because of this popularity, Samsung has released another two sub brands for the J7 category and these two called J7 Pro and J7 Max.

If you compare Galaxy J7 Pro with the latest J7 (2017) you see only some small differences except the internal storage which has 64GB. Display wise both have 5.5inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, both are powered by Exynos 7870 Octa (Octa-core Cortex-A53 1.6GHz, 14nm process, Mali-T830MP2 at 700MHz, AnTuTu score around 45000), 3GB RAM, 13 mega pixel f/1.7 front camera and a 13 mega pixel f/1.9 rear camera on both devices and a 3600 mAh battery on both devices. But when it comes to connectivity J7 Pro lacks some features, it supports only Bluetooth 4.1 and WiFi 802.11n but on the other hand J7 (2017) supports Bluetooth 4.2 and Wifi 802.11a/c with dual band.

Samsung Galaxy J7 Max has a downgraded but bit bigger (5.7inch – 1080p) screen than the above-mentioned models. Its display is powered by PLS TFT screen (note: PLS - Plane Line Switching is similar to IPS - In-Plane Switching) not Super AMOLED. But other specs are impressive. Processor wise J7 Max is powered by Mediatek MT6757 Helio P20 (Octa-core Cortex-A53 2.4GHz, 16nm process, Mali-T880MP2 at 900MHz – AnTuTu score around 45000), 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, 13 mega pixel f/1.7 front camera and a 13 mega pixel f/1.9 rear camera. Connectivity wise J7 Max has Bluetooth 4.2 and WiFi 802.11n with dual band.

Price and availability are still unknown but according to Indian pricing, J7 Max will be cost around LKR 40000/= to 45000/= and J7 Pro will be cost around LKR 50000/= to 55000/=.
